About the project

In a small village on the outskirts of Kyoto, a matsuri is being celebrated. A ritual binds an inugami and a human together, but a disaster strikes and many yokai pour into the human world.

The two players must cooperate to send the inugami home before time runs out; otherwise he will have to possess the human's body and live under the threat of malevolent yokai, or let himself die. The project started from one question: how can an interactive, collaborative game introduce Japanese folklore?

I designed the concept art, the characters and the animations: Nao the human and Inu the yokai, each explored in several colour variants, the villagers of the matsuri, the walk cycles and the game backgrounds. The game itself was built in Godot and GDScript.
