MARI-E

360° augmented reality experience for the Musée de l'Orangerie, around Marie Laurencin.

MARI-E demo: the augmented painting in action

About the project

Built in collaboration with the Musée de l'Orangerie, MARI-E tells the life of Marie Laurencin through her painting Les Biches: a tribute to a pioneering woman artist, painter, writer and lesbian.

Visitors scan the painting with a phone or tablet, tap the white shape and the show begins. The painting comes alive in a 360° augmented reality scene, halfway between painting and artificial intelligence, retelling her story and her works in her own graphic language.

The client

Musée de l'Orangerie

The Musée de l'Orangerie is a national museum in the Tuileries Garden in Paris, home to Claude Monet's Water Lilies and to the Walter-Guillaume collection of modern painting, where Marie Laurencin's Les Biches hangs.

MARI-E was designed in collaboration with the museum, as an experience that runs in the visitor's own browser, on a phone or tablet, in front of the real painting.
